Bengaluru: Ananth Kumar did not seek medical attention, says close friend and doctor

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (MS)

Bengaluru, Nov 11: According to the information given by Dr B S Srinath, close friend and family doctor, the deceased Union minister Anant Kumar (59) succumbed to a type of cancer of the lung called Adenocarcinoma, within just six months of diagnosis of the same.

The doctor is also of the opinion that Anant Kumar did not take the symptoms of his repeated coughing during the campaigning of assembly elections this year seriously and thought that it must be due to the jam-packed schedule of his meetings.

Giving more details, Dr B S Srinath, surgical oncologist at Sri Shankara Cancer Foundation, said, "Apart from diabetes, Anant Kumar was relatively healthy with a good lifestyle as he had no vices like smoking. He must have developed cancer during the month of January or February of 2018. Cancer developed a stray mutation too fast leaving Anant Kumar with very less time for treatment and recovery. The Adenocarcinoma was in its advanced stage when he was diagnosed with the same in the month of June."

With regards to the mystery that surrounded the illness of Anant Kumar, Dr Srinath gave clarification and said, "The minister was in utter dismay when he was diagnosed with cancer and wished to keep it for himself and his family. He and his family visited the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York. However, the treatment that was given to him in that hospital backfired. This made the family of Anant Kumar to bring him back to Bengaluru."

"Anant Kumar had spoken to me about the developmental plans he had in his vision for the capital city of Karnataka as well as our country during his hospitalization of last few months at Sri Shankara Cancer Foundation," said Dr Srinath, who is a very close family friend of Anant Kumar's family. According to Dr Srinath, Anant Kumar's death is not only a huge loss to his family and friends but for the entire country.

RIP.Sir.Heartfelt sympathy to his family. Many times men dont take it seriously when sickness is there .may be due to lack of knowledge,or thinking will treatment after sometime. It happened to my father-in law some years back that hehad cough ,chest pain,so xrayed, and doctor admitted him in TB hospital for treatment.becuase his xray showed lungs were full of shadows,(he was notsmoker)but treatment didnt act ,by the time he developed stomach pain, and in hospital they diagnosed ,advanced cancer with metastasis in lungs.so wrong diagnose, wrong treatment,.He died within a short period .so also can happen.

We live in place where air we breath, water we drink, food we eat all lased with poison . some are more susceptible develop diseases , some it may be bit slow process (recent reports of pesticides in water , high uranium) Water quality testing is very essential but hardly done.
At least people should realize and go for regular screening after 35 years once in 3-4 years. Dont mock doctor when u go to him with cough if he ask for X -ray. that only rules out killer diseases. What ever complaints whenever you go doctor and if you have not visited him last five years , I salute that doctor who advises you complete screening tests (though has hidden intention of making few bugs) that helps early diagnosis and saves life.

There is a saying- Prevention is Better than Cure,
which proves again. Diagnosis is the only tool for detection of these, while treatments rarely cure them.
Most of the time some people doesn't know they have it but efficient defense system just clears it without any treatment as a doctor said autopsies of old people died of natural causes were done they found the same, they had it & it didn't kill them.
Some aggressive treatments like chemo & radiation triggers more aggressive spread of cancer while chemo kills healthy cells too triggering future cancers through mutation.
I have come across many cases where treatments caused kidney failure & multiple organ fail causing premature death within week or months.

In that case majority of MPs would've been in heavenly abode as Delhi reigns #1 as far as pollution is concerned.
