Bengaluru: Tipu Jayanti : CM's absence an insult to Muslims - Tanveer Sait from Congress

Bengaluru, Nov 11 (DC): With the Karnataka chief minister and his deputy skipping the Tipu Jayanti celebrations, Congress MLA and former minister Tanveer Sait on Saturday termed it as an insult to the Muslim community.

"This was the first Tipu Jayanti of the new government. The information is that following doctor's advice chief minister HD Kumaraswamy is not taking part (in the programmes). Deputy chief minister G Parameshwara is on a foreign tour. This development has somewhere come across as though the community has been insulted. There is no doubt about it," Tanveer Sait said.

According to party sources, several Congress leaders, especially those from the Muslim community, are miffed with the chief minister and deputy chief minister for giving the event a miss.

Speaking to reporters in Mysuru, Sait said politics and party notwithstanding it was his duty to express the sentiments of his community. "I request the chief minister to try and attend the programme at HD Kote that is near to the place where he is taking his break," he added.

The chief minister's office had made prior announcement about his inability to attend the function and his name was also not printed in the invitations. Following the chief minister's decision to skip the event, reports had emerged about differences in opinion between the ruling coalition partners about Tipu Jayanti celebrations.

While in Opposition, Kumaraswamy had questioned the need for such celebrations.

Tipu Jayanti was a tricky cookie hurled at Karnataka by Siddu ahead of the Assembly Elections to polarize the vote. Both CM and DyCM might have felt that if they bite the cookie it will hurt them while the ploy had already failed to succeed in favor of Siddu in recent elections.
This clearly shows that they cared very less for contributions of Tipu's struggle of Indian Independence but for its potential impact on ballot box. Some news articles have it that CM is miffed at this community for voting in favor of another candidate of their community and not his party. Sorry, if anyone missed, Tipu Jayanthi was part of the appeasement strategy that failed.

Dear Tanveer Sait, why are you bothering yourself. Tippu jayanti is not a Muslim festival and might be less than 5 percent of muslims celebrate this Festival. This is not a must. Muslims usual dont celebrate birth day as its not recommended. There are many other things to be done. Instead of wasting money on celebrating birth day, its better to share it with most needy people of society. This is the real charity. Disturbing others in the name of celebrating birthday is quite unnecessary. Muslims did not force karnataka govt to celebrate Tippu jayanti. However, if Govt is celebrating someones birthday, what is the wrong and why are u bothered if someone is not attending. Being CM, he should have attended the celebration. However, it is not a big issue. But you are trying to make it big issue as if you are the only leader of Muslims.

    Dear Zahoor Ahmed:
Your allegation on Israel and US and singling them out, seems to be a biased, and force fed version (Amriki-yahudi Sazish).
US: A superpower who wields enormous influence and never shied away from toppling democratically elected governments will try to create leverages through both legitimate and illegitimate means. Our own Govt is accused by Pakistan of supporting Afghan Taliban - may be true or may be not.
Israel: The only country in the middle east that is a flourishing democracy and again it is within its rights to do what it does for its survival - even if it means, bombing nascent Iraqi reactor or sending Iranian centrifuges out of control with malware. We should have done this in the 70s to Pakistan. We lacked the courage and many Indian continue to die even today.
However, I see that you have not mentioned Saudi Arabia. Even our Government is ominously silent. The recent Kashoggi affair, Ridiculous involvement in Yemen, for supremacy in middle east vis-à-vis Iran at the cost of running huge deficit, huge export of conservative Wahabism to name a few.
One look at middle east, and you wonder, why these nations are at each other's throat? They all pray to the same God, still war economy is flourishing in entire middle east. None of these guys can sit across a common table to solve their problems. Easiest way out is blame Israel and US.
You are in India, and can afford the luxury of taking an unbiased view at the countries you blame. But alas, no, the propaganda machine is too strong and they influence you.

    Zahoor Ahmed, Karkala,
Your endorsement of Tipu's bias against Canara Catholics and killings,
Perfectly justifies most of the peoples bias against you people and calling that, you people are Pakistani supporters!
We are not biased against religion. We condemn Tipu & Hitler's on account of their bloody deeds, Karmik account. We are always condemning all butchers alike whether or Hitler.
Whereas you people honour Butcher Tipu and hate Hitler!
Tipu Jayanti celebration is uniting Christians and Hindus, for it's grave insult to them.
Kumara Swamy saved himself from not attending it.
Those celebrating Tipu Jayanti, have brought disaster upon themselves. History has proved it time and again!!! Tipu and his name itself has curse on account of his Karma not by his religion!

Tippu Jayanti was started as a gift for former CM's long time associate & right hand who is also trustee at Srirangapatna to please his vote bank. These people in Mysore think they are descendants of Tippu & genetically superior. They are trying to make Tippu representative of Muslims which is totally a mean political game for which Muslims shud not fall although former CM fell to ground biting dust as a result. We all in India are genetically similar including Al Hind Muskeen.

Tanveer the support was unconditional. Your party wanted survival so you have to live by the rules of Dodda Gowdru who has given you a lease of life. HDK is the CM so thats it. He calls the shots.
This was expected & more to come in the long run. You should realize that your party has fallen from the grace of being a singular party . Till such time biting the bitter pill is envitable.

Firstly HDK is a very superstitious person. He has seen the fate of people who glorified Tippu and where they are now. Moreover there is no logic to celebrate a Jayanthi with such strict measures only to appease a certain community. HDK does not want to be in the midst of controversy due to his poor health. Its Congress that wants HDK for survival, HDK does not want Congress. He will also be willing to side BJP with less tension that Cong.

Tippu Jayanthi that was not celebrated for 400 years was suddenly found by your party to appease Muslims. However more than appeasement it was an embarrassment to us. Whats sort of celebration is this , with strict police deployment and sections, protests everywhere. Why do we have such 'jayanthis' in the first place. The hypocricy and ploys of the Congis are out. Here Ramanatha Rai boasts , he has won all these years due to Muslim votes, while his boss is busy temple running and claiming to be a Shivbakth Brahmin.

Insult to Muslinms if someone doesn't attend a function?. There is no Jayanthi no procession no public disturbances in Islam; be it that of our beloved Prophet Muhammad ( Peace and Blessings of Allah) whom we love more than any human being, dead or alive.

    Tanveer,

Is it necessary CM should attend useless celebrations taking place all over Karnataka.

You are only interested in getting political mileage to fulfill your selfish goals by asking stupid questions to the CM.

First talk about what development plan you have for the people of Karnataka.

Do not add fuel to the fire, by dragging CM into controversies, who is more concerned about Karnataka and also coming elections in India.
