Mangaluru: Rs 20 crore grant for development of Baikampady industrial zone, says minister K J George

Mangaluru, Nov 4: Minister for large and medium scale industries and ITBT, K J George said that Rs 20 crore will be released from the department for the development of basic infrastructure in the Baikampady industrial zone on the outskirts of the city.

George was speaking at the meeting that was held with the industrialists at the auditorium of the Baikampady small scale industries association.

"There is a scarcity of land here. 543 acres of land that was acquired for Nagarjuna Steel Company is under litigation. If we get specific demand, the government is ready to appraise the court of the same and provide it to the industrialists. 160 acres of land is provided for the Coastguard Training Center. The government has agreed to give 50 acres of land to build the office of RAF security force," said the minister.

George further said, "It is possible to construct a waste disposal unit at Baikampady through the district administration. A legal amendment needs to be done in order to transform Baikampady industrial zone into a township. I will take action as soon as possible in this regard. Land for the construction of Plastic Park, which is a central government project, is already identified."

K-tech training centre

Minister George also said, "Skilled employees are required for the industries. The government has established a K-tech traning centre for the same reason. The government has formed a scheme to establish training centres with private participation also."

State of the art logistic park

"Instead of the truck terminal for the parking of trucks, NMPT has provided a land of five acres to construct an ultra-modern logistic park. However, we require a minimum of 10 acres for this purpose," said the minister.

MLCs Ivan D'Souza and Harish Kumar, former MLA J R Lobo, deputy mayor of MCC Mohammed, local corporator Purushotam Chithrapura appraised the minister of the local issues.

Gaurav Hegde, president of Small Scale Industries Association, placed the demands of with regards to the development of the Baikampady Industrial Zone. Darpan Jain, commissioner of industires department, Shivshankar, CEO of KIADB, Gokuldas Nayak, joint director of industries and industrialists of KCCI were present.

    You Talk sense ..like me .unbiased ...not affiliated to this party or that party ..neither feku nor pappu ..
    If something needs to be praised ..we praise ..if something needs to be criticised ,we do so brazenly..
    But mostly I see people comments are pretty much predetermined ,based on their affiliation to some party or person.
    Sometimes I feel ,I am the most intelligent person walking on this earth ..and rest are all fools.

    Please do something to stop dust raising on Baikampady highway. That area is total air polluted. Difficult to breathe while travelling. What about those who work in that area ???
