Aberdeen, Sep 13: Konkans living in Aberdeen, celebrated ‘Monthi Festh’ on September 8 at St Francis of Assisi Church, Mannofield, Aberdeen. Canon Peter Barry celebrated the Holy Mass. All sang melodious Konkani hymns led by Prakash Benis and Monthi Baretto. The congregation proceeded to hall in procession singing ‘Sakod sangatha melyan’.

Canon Barry blessed the new corn and children showered the flowers. Mothers visiting their children from India, along with mother who has maximum number of children and mother of youngest child present, all together cut the cake while everyone sang happy birthday to Mother Mary.



Dr Maxim compered the event, and conducted vegetable auction which raised Rs 2,00,000 for charity. All gathered enjoyed vegetarian meal which included delicacies like ‘vorn’. Everyone enjoyed the game of housie-housie, which generated more money to charity. Children were given goody bags.

Juliana D’Costa organised the whole event which was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
