Mumbai, Sep 13: Konkani Catholic Welfare Association, Bhayandar, celebrated Monti Fest (Nativity of Mary) on September 9 at Our Lady of Nazareth Church, Bhayandar West. The Konkani feast Mass began with offering flowers to Mother Mary. The Mass was celebrated by Fr Melvin D’Cunha, parish priest St Joseph Church, Mira Road and concelebrated by Fr Hendrick Itur, assistant priest of Our Lady of Nazareth Church, Bhayandar West.

The celebration of feast was held at Nagar Bhavan Hall, Mandli Talav, Bhayandar West. It started with cake cutting by Fr Barthol D Machado, parish priest, Fr Michael D’Souza, Fr Hendrick Itur, Fr Joseph Mathew and Bro Francis. Sr Meena, Sr Koshav and Sr Sangeeta of the Holy Cross Convent, Bhayandar West, also attended the celebration. KCWA welcomed the above guests by presenting them with shawls. The association felicitated the children of Konkani speaking families who secured 85% and above marks in SSC March 2018 exam with mementoes.



Konkani comedy skits ‘Room Rent’ and ‘GPL Gum’ were enacted by the association members, which had the audience rolling with laughter.

With the leadership of George Sequeira, president of KCWA the celebration was a great success. The function was compared by George Sequeira. More than 250 people attended the function. KCWA is grateful to all the sponsors for their financial support.

All the people present enjoyed the traditional ‘Novem Jevon’ and people left the venue recollecting sweet memories of their native place.
