Mangalore, Oct 7: In a shocking incident, a group of miscreants attacked Mangala Bar & Restaurant at Valencia near Kankanady late on Monday October 6 night.  It was a sudden attack when the restaurant was abuzz with crowd in the late hours.

The miscreants who came on mobikes attacked the restaurant with stones, wooden clubs and sabres. The group of almost 20 miscreants even went upstairs and ransacked the restaurant. They damaged the furniture in the restaurant. While some of them went rampaging inside the restaurant, others damaged all the counters belonging to the restaurant from outside, throwing soft drink bottles, liquor bottles out of the restaurant and smashing 2 coin booths. While the restaurant incurred huge loss of property, two of its staff suffered critical injuries. Both of them have been admitted to Father Muller hospital.

Though the motive behind the attack is not known so far, it is believed that it could have been owing to some personal rivalry. DySP Dharmaiah who arrived on the spot, after taking stock of things, said that it was purely owing to personal rivalry. He further said that a person named Shrikanth had come to the restaurant just before closing on Sunday October 5 night. When he asked for food, the cashier of the restaurant reportedly said him that restaurant had almost been shut and food is not available.

This led to severe argument between Shrikanth and the cashier. Once they were joined by their friends and colleagues, both of them were soon up in arms. An enraged cashier hit Shrikanth with a bottle on his head. Shrikanth who suffered injuries was admitted to the hospital while the cashier was arrested by the police. The latter is still in the judicial custody after failing to get bail.

Accordingly, it is perceived that today's act could be purely out of personal grudge. However, police have initiated probe into the matter. Pandeshwar police have registered a case in this regard.

More details are awaited.

The statement given by the police is absolutely wrong the person srikanth had come at 12.15 in the night ask for liquor but the restaurant was closed and he was informed from inside the closed shutter that the bar is closed after that he started pelting stones to the shutter which was closed while opening the shutter to see what was happening he started pelting stones on the employees of the restaurant to safe guard the restaurant property the employees closed the shutter.

Then next day a group of 20 people with mask and helmets stoned and ransacked the restaurant the police are in competent to catch the culprits and have arrested the employees by telling to come to the station for statement and put but them behind bars are the police standing for truth or they have become legal protectors for gundaism in mangalore shame on them and the municipality cleaners are better then them because the wear the same kakee but at least they clean the dirt with honesty these people called police are them self the dirt thanks to mahatma Gandhi and all the freedom fighters who sacrificed their life for India's freedom for which our politicians and the cops have no respect for Jai Hind

What's with our beloved Mangalore these days? The city is in the news for all the wrong reasons - firstly the church attacks, next the terrorism tag and now the recent vandalism incident at Mangala Restaurant. Mangala is a restaurant of great repute and it is one such place I head off to when I'm back on vacation.

All we're doing is making fools out of ourselves and giving various media bigwigs a run for their money! Whatever happened to the peace and calm that our beloved Kudla has lived through all these years? Kenneth, we are with you and we know that justice will be done! After all the one above us all is watching everything!

It is astonishing to note that when 20 people came and created the nuisance when the hotel was open, no one has even noted the registration Nos of any of the Bikes and have given the clue to the police.

The facist forces taking law in their hands and destroying everything has become the order of the day. the culprits should be booked immediately and punished thereafter. A well reputed restaurant in the city known for its service and quality. Dear kenneth, God will vindicate all the harm done to you.

I will second Roger Pinto's comments there, staying in the apartments next to Mangala I have never encountered a No from any of their employees. Looking at this case from a political point of view doesn't help here, let the cops do their investigation and them please go ahead and start pointing fingers.

Though I would agree off late such hooliganism is on the rise especially in Mangalore. Hope peace prevails around that area and I would love to enjoy a Sumptuous meal when I go back to Mangalore. Kenneth, we are with you its sad to hear about such adverse reactions by some insane group of people.

Looking at the attacks and violence in our peaceful town of Mangalore every one of us should put down our head in shame. We claim to have highest number of Institutions in the district, highest number of literates and now adding another feather to our cap highest number of attacks and violence within a short span.

Where is our moral values gone? Where is the self esteem and the concern for fellow citizens? Why have we stooped so low as to attack business establishment and Institutions’? To instill confidence and the faith in Governance the District Administration and the State Govt should restore the damage done to all the Institutions and Establishments and suitably compensate the Victims for the Injury and attack.

It’s high time that the State Govt, District administration and Police enforce a strict vigil at all Institutions, establishments and business centers to prevent further degrading of the Law and Order and protect the lives and property of all citizens.

All political parties should rise above their Party and condemn the violence and attacks at all levels. It’s so ironical………India is a peace loving Country no doubt the medals we have won in Olympics are ONLY in WRESTLING, BOXING AND FIRING……!
