Hundreds of protestors who were stranded inside the Permannur St Sebastian Church near Tokkottu junction, were beaten up by the police. The police entered the church premises and chased away the people gathered there, injuring many. They also vandalized the church property, particularly the windows and furnitures. They rounded up scores of people from the church premises and arrested them.

A mob that gathered at Tokkottu starting throwing stones. The police caned the protestors to disperse them. Additional forces have been deployed.
