Kundapur, Feb 2: Various protests, strikes and demonstrations carried out by different organizations, political leaders, social workers and taluk formation action committee over several years have finally borne fruit. The government has issued final notification in the gazette about Byndoor taluk creation by segregating 26 villages forming part of this taluk at present.

The state government had published the gazette notification on December 16, 2017 providing a 30-day time limit to submit objections and suggestions. On January 27, the government reviewed the public suggestions before the final notification was issued.

Byndoor taluk creation had been announced by the previous BJP regime. After Congress government came to power, it had not evinced too much interest in this matter. Bending under demands, protests and struggles of vairious organizations and activists, the government has finally given its green signal for carving out this new taluk.

Byndoor will be the headquarter of the new taluk. In the initial announcement, Hallihole and Kamalasile villages, which are located 70 km away from the taluk headquarter, had been included in this taluk.

Kamalashile and Senapura were included in the Byndoor taluk in the earlier notification. After receiving various objections, in the final notification, Kamalashile has been retained in Kundapur taluk, ceding Hallihole with Byndoor taluk.

President of Byndoor taluk Horata Samiti, B Jagannath Shetty, said that with the issue of final notification, dreams of thousands of people to have a taluk of their own with a headquarter within their reach has come true after a long wait. He thanked former and current ministers, MLAs and people who joined hands with the committee on this achievement.

As many as 26 villages including Shiroor, Paduvari,Yadthare, Byndoor, Taggarse, Uppunda, Nandanavana, Kergalu, Bijoor, Kirimanjeshwar, Ullur, Khambadakone, Heranjalu, Navunda, Badakere, Maravanthe, Hadavu, Naada, herur, Kalthodu, Golihole, Yalajith, Kollur, Jadkal, Mudoor, and Hallihole have been brought together under thenew Byndoor taluk.

Disappointment for Hallihole

There were campaigns a month demanding Hallihole's retention with Kundapur taluk. However, the notification, by including Hallihole in Byndoor taluk, has disappointed the local people. The residents said that they will prepare for a legal campaign in this connection. Kamalashile village is in Hallihole gram panchayat limits at present. Two villages of one gram panchayat are hence joining two different taluks, which may give rise to administrative issues, it is said.
