Mangaluru: Rs 4. 05 crore for widening of Kankanady Railway Station Road – J R Lobo

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, Dec 21: The road connecting Mangaluru Junction Railway Station, also known as Kankanady Railway Station, will be widened at a cost of Rs 4.05 crore. This information was given by MLA J R Lobo on Wednesday, December 20.

Lobo was speaking after surveying the said road.

He said that Rs 2.05 crore from the premium FAR (floor area ratio) of Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) and Rs 2 crore from the state public works department (PWD) have been sanctioned for this work.

"Though the Mangaluru Junction Railway Station was built many years ago, people had to use the congested road to reach there. As there was no bus facility, people had to come to the station by auto rickshaw or taxi. The development of this road will make it convenient for the people to commute to the station," he informed.

"MCC and PWD have to work together in order to complete the work of this road as soon as possible. This should be done in a systematic manner, without causing inconvenience to the public," Lobo told the concerned officials.

Corporator Praveen Chandra Alva, MCC deputy commissioner (development) K S Lingegowda, joint director Jayaraj, town planning officer Balakrishna, engineer Ganapati, local leaders Krithin Kumar, Dhanaraj and Anil were present.

Amazing. For Nanthoor circle he has sanctioned 60lakhs and for this road 4.05crore. I think it should be the other way. There is more traffic at Nanthoor circle, accidents happening every day and more decisive action needed. Please increase the funds to Nanthoor circle to keep the people safe. Move the auto rickshaw stand from its present place. They are always moving the wrong way and cutting traffic. Ensure that the buses only stop for a max of 1 minute then move away. This will help also.

I fully agree with your matured comments as I was one of the NRIs,now settled in my native place.I know the difficulties, problems one should encounter, face in Gulf countries, those who are not paid well.It is not like that one will go to gulf countries and work in gold mines and reap the benefits in the form of money. One should work relentlessly without even a break in some cases, shed their sweat and receive the salary at the end of the month with so many deductions. Many people might have pledged their wife's jewels in the banks or money lenders or mortgaged their properties and gone to gulf countries without knowing anything about the prevailing life style. After landing in the gulf, they will start realize that they landed in wrong place. This is happening mostly in construction sectors and sometimes in private companies as well."Always Doorada Betta,Kannige Nunnage". One should experience in closed proximate before criticizing others or passing any passive comments. Also one should remember that when we point one finger at others, three fingers are pointing at us.It is always said than done.Remember Gulf life is not a cozy bed or Rosy life to all with the exception of few.Only because of NRI’s hard earned money remitting to our land, our coastal region is developing now.

What was required 15 years back is being done now. This is how things work in India.
All over the world, the developments are made in advance, and in anticipation of bottlenecks. Here, people are made to suffer for unlimited period and then a solution is found. By the time the solution gets implemented, the problem grows multiple times.

Baba issue is private land which people are not ready to give up despite reasonable compensation.

Have you observed especially in Mangalore only private Christian institutions like St. Aloysius, St. Agnes etc have given their land for road widening. Can you name any other private or religious institutions gave an inch of land without compensation for road widening ?

Don't just blame for name sake. At least this guy is taking honest efforts to solve the problem.

Why can't you comment on Nantoor Junction which is 3 sides covered by NH which comes under central bhagya still stinking without solution ?

People are not ready to contribute to development of their country. They take required qualification freely from Indian government and then go to other country to work like slaves and give their unwanted suggestions here. They should stay here and become a party in developing their country.

Raju & Prabhu, Karkala, Please note that NRI's bring foreign exchange which is one among major growth factors for India! U guys are only criticizing hard working Indians abroad! You people talk in the air....if all NRI's come to India, do they get jobs? Are the roads enough for all to travel??? Most of them have gone abroad to lift their families from troubles, sisters marriages and to improve social status. Most of the people working in Gulf are not highly educated! Do not insult them saying work like slaves!! They start work at 7am....and you guys enjoy starting work at 10am and plenty of holidays! Who is more productive??? You both are happy degrading others and most ur kind are getting freebies from political party and have reduced to lazy work force! I am not so happy u insulting hardworking Indians abroad and contributing to India, perhaps in a better manner than you!
Please ask any one.....they will tell you, coastal districts have flourished due to people working in gulf and shipping lines for the last 4 to 5 decades. You are commenting without iota of basic knowledge!!
