Doha: Hanan emerge champion at Gulf Incon–Metabo cricket tourney

Doha, Dec 4: Hanan XII became the Division - I champions of the 23rd Gulf Incon–Metabo cricket tournament 2017 in a close encounter of see-sawing fortunes by holding off the challenge of CCRC Warriors winning by 29 runs at the Losail Cricket Grounds.

A two minutes silence was observed to mark the death of veteran cricketer Bacchu Nazareth of IBQ on November 24, 2017.

Winning the toss CCRC Warriors put in Hanan XII to bat. Hanan XII started their inning very confidently and scored 41 runs in the first 6 overs for the loss of one wicket.



Hanan XII finally totaled a mammoth 196 runs for 10 in the allotted 20 overs.

Imran was the star batsman who contributed 60 Runs with 7 sixes and a boundary off 29 balls. Parvez and Azhar contributed 31 runs with 4 sixes and 23 runs with 3 sixes and a boundary respectively. Other batsmen from Hanan XII who chipped in were Hamid 19 runs, Niyamath 16 runs and Aswar 12 runs.

For CCRC Warriors, Mohsin, Azhar and Sajid took 3 wickets each.

In reply, CCRC Warriors started cautiously and were keeping the required run rate scoring 61 runs for loss of 2 wickets in 6 overs.

However, good bowling and fielding saw them losing wickets and fall short of the target being all out for 167 runs in 19.1 overs, losing by 29 runs.

Mazhar scored 32 runs with 2 sixes and 3 boundaries, Farukh 28 runs with 2 sixes and a boundary and Majeed 26 runs with 3 sixes.

For Hanan XII, Niyamath, Khader, Ifaz, Azhar and Gayan took a wicket each.

For his quick fire 60 runs, Imran of Hanan XII was adjusted as Man of the Final.

Best Bowler – Shoaib (Al Jazeera Media Network)
Best allrounder - Rauf (Hanan XII)
Best Wicket Keeper - Farook (CCRC Warriors)

Sajjad Ahmed Khan, senior sales and marketing manager- Metabo/ Gulf Incon along with Ravi Chandran, senior stores supervisor, Tuan–Metabo, field specialist and Qatar veterans cricket officials distributed the winners, runners-up trophies and over 250 prizes.

All spectators were treated to free snacks. Filli Cafe served tasty saffron tea and all participated in the complimentary lucky draw.
