Kundapur: 17-year-old Pradeesh K creates new Guinness world record for longest drawing

Kundapur, Nov 11: Pradeesh K, who is studying second-year commerce at Viveka pre-university college, Kota, completed his marathon effort of creating a new Guinness world record for the 'longest drawing by an individual' on the afternoon of Friday, November 10 at Mahatma Gandhi auditorium of his college. He drew 1174.28 metre long picture on 10 cm paper roll in 34 hours on the theme 'Swachh Bharath'. Only the formality of official announcement by the Guinness organization is awaited.

This Herculean effort was started at 9 27 am on Tuesday, November 7. The first day was devoted to "Glorious India (Bhavya Bharath)', in which, Pradeesh drew the India that was completely green many many years ago. 'Polluted India' was the limelight of the second day on which he stressed the ways in which India is getting polluted at present. He projected the idea of 'Clean India (Swachh Bharath)' on the third day by drawing his imagination of hygienic India on the canvas. The final day was dedicated to the concept of 'Developed India'. Painting of the drawing came to close at 1 pm on Friday, November 10. He had taken rest only for food and tea twice during this period.

The picture that was drawn on 24.5 rolls was assembled in order on the green net that was put at the stadium of Kota pre-university college and video shooting of the same was done as a proof for the record. D V Hegde, assistant executive engineer, public works department, Udupi helped in measuring the length of the drawing. Ramesh Rao, renowned artist, Gopal Kharvi, Guinness world record holding swimmer, K Balakrishna Shetty, Notary were present as witnesses for the Guinness association.

Earlier the record for the 'longest drawing by an individual' was held by Parimalakanth Kumaravijayan of Chennai, Tamil Nadu, who drew a picture that was 660.22 meter long on October 12, 2016. Pradeesh K had made elaborate preparations for this record-breaking effort and has used pencil, marker and crayon.

Preparations are on to send this picture to the Guinness association after completion of all the formalities and final results are expected in February 2018.
