Mangaluru, Nov 7: Over the past decade, go-karting has experienced a huge resurgence. Indoor tracks are popping up all over the country and competitive karting races are being held. Mangaluru has a lot of youngsters who love to experience the thrill. But, the lack of a good and safe go-kart track has always been an obstacle for seasoned pros as well as beginners.
To fulfill the dreams of go-kart lovers, Cafe N Kart, a new go-karting centre, is here offering one of the coolest go-kart tracks in the region.
Located at Kannur on Mangaluru-Bengaluru highway, the go-kart centre is a venture of three brothers, Sushan Chandra, Nishan Chandra and Eshan Chandra. The trio fell in love with speed at an early age have turned into innovative entrepreneurs in same field.
Perfect spot for a speedy unwind
Cafe N Kart is a Formula 5 (F5) racing spot and is the first in the district. Similar to Formula 1(F1), Café N Kart has F5 series vehicles which are quite low on power as against F1. The karts here posses a 200cc and 10 bhp Honda engine which are available in two categories with high and low power.
The go-kart track here provides a perfect karting session for all. The karting format here is ideal as one can get some good laps, set a new personal best & have some fun. Individuals and small groups can head out on to the track.
Safe for all
The entire spot have well and advanced safety equipments to avoid any type of accidents. Before the drive begins, track boys will welcome the race enthusiasts with helmets and will also provide the necessary safety instructions. Besides, it is very easy to drive the karts as they have a low chassis system and there is nothing to worry about overturning or skidding.
If you are new to racing, you can drive the kart applying speed lock to the motor. Only one person can use the kart at a time and only on specific tracks.
Children who are three and half or four feet tall can have a good lap at the go-kart track. Drivers’ license is not a necessity to drive the stylish looking karts. Already, hundreds of youth and families visit the spot for jolly good rides.
Special lady attendants are available for female race enthusiasts. An excellent seating arrangement awaits groups or families. Besides race, Cafe N Kart has a refreshment spot at the go-karting centre too.
Owners speak
Speaking on the unique idea of Café N Kart, Nishan says, “We brothers were crazy about bike race and performing stunts. We had to go to Bengaluru to satisfy our hunger for speed. One day, during a regular discussion with my brother Eshan, who races for KTM, we thought about setting up a race track in Mangaluru. The discussion turned fruitful as we set up a track here on a land owned by our family. We bought karts with Honda engines.”
“We have low power karts for children who do not know to drive. For grown-ups, we have high power karts. We also organise competition called ‘Fly Kart’ every week. We give away prizes based on timing and speed of the racers,” he informs.
Speaking on the future plans of Cafe N Kart Sushan said, “We have plans of launching water sports, speed boats, paint ball and other entertainment activities for all age groups. As river Nethravati is very close to Cafe N Kart, we can start water sports. We also plan to convert Adyar into a good tourism spot. We get hundreds of inquiries every day and this satisfies us. Students and government employees and many others, who love race, visit us.”
“This place is good for youth who perform stunts on roads. Racing on roads is a very dangerous thing to do. Those are extremely crazy of bike and car stunts can visit our track and do stunts without any fear and harm. It is very safe as well,” he added.
Besides the regular go-karting races, many state and national level race championships are held here. On some occasions, national level drivers visit here to practice. Cafe Kart also organizes classes on riding and race in occasionally.
Cafe N Kart is a good example on how youth are foraying into entrepreneurship and startups in India's current scenario with new ideas.
Cafe N Kart invites all to its F5 racing track for better experience and entertainment. The center is open from 10 am to 11 pm all seven days of the week.
