Bengaluru: Support Maatru Pratishtana's noble initiative - Contribute wheelchair to the needy

Media Release

Bengaluru, Oct 22: In what may be described as a first-of-its-kind initiative to help the differently-abled, Bengaluru's Maatru Pratishtana has set up a project to give away 1,000 free wheelchairs to people without legs residing in Karnataka. The milestone charity drive will give a glimmer of smile and hope to all those unfortunate brothers and sisters of the state.

The organizers are hopeful that all MNCs and top companies from Karnataka will see this as a great opportunity to contribute and support the idea. Even kind-hearted individuals and well wishers can pitch in by contributing the cost of at least one wheelchair priced at Rs 8,500. Huge companies can donate a bigger amount under the CSR programme to aid the differently-abled. There is no limit on the donations and all donations are exempt under 80G of the Income Tax Act. Each wheelchair will carry the logo or name of the donor on the back of the chair.

All the selected beneficiaries will be given their wheelchairs in a ceremony planned to be held in Bengaluru in December in the presence of top personalities.

Donations may be directly sent by bank transfer to:

Maatru Pratishtana ®
Bank Name: Kotak Mahindra
Branch:Rajajinagar, Bengaluru
Account No 2012362473
IFSC: KKBK0008078

Or cheque/draft can be drawn in favour of Maatru Pratishtana.

Your contribution can make a big difference to the legless in Karnataka. Give a helping hand to those without legs and show that you are with them in their plight.

Nice initiative ,but the wheelchairs are only good for indoors that too not all buildings are facilitating the wheel chairs or any handicapped equipment.
Our footpaths are not meant for wheels chairs or prams for babies .If the authorities
take notice and facilitate this then the physically challenged will some independence to move around .
