Bengaluru: Nativity feast celebrated by St Joseph's Konkani Association, Chamarajpet

Bengaluru, Sep 14: St Joseph's Konkani Association celebrated Monthi Fest at St Joseph's Church, Chamarajpet on September 8 with a solemn festal mass in Konkani.

Fr George Monis, principal of Darshan College, Kengeri celebrated the Holy Eucharist and in his homily explained the importance of the feast. During the mass he blessed the paddy sheaves.

After the Eucharistic celebration along with the parish priest Fr Udaya Kumar, he distributed the blessed paddy corns to all the devotees. The melodious choir trained by capuchin brothers, was headed by Jacintha D'Costa. Lenson Lobo and Anston Fernandes helped the devotees to sing the beautiful hymns and lead into a prayerful atmosphere.

After the mass, all gathered around the statue of Our Lady of Bambino.

Little children as well as the elders with great devotion honoured Infant Mary by offering flowers. Breakfast followed with delicious Mangalurean traditional ‘vorn’ added with ‘novem’.
