Mangaluru, Aug 12: It was a red-letter day for the Konkani movie industry as 'Noshibacho Khell', directed by Bollywood-Bhojpuri-Marathi fame Harry Fernandes, written and produced by Henry D'Silva Suratkal, under the banner of Kanarites Youth Association, Mumbai Films Pvt Ltd (KYAM) was released here at Prabhath theatre on Friday, August 12. This is the first full-fledged mainstream Konkani movie to release in the coastal region after a gap of 8 years.

Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza, bishop of Mangaluru diocese, blessed the occasion and formally inaugurated the movie by lighting the lamp.

Addressing the gathering, Henry D'Silva, producer of the movie said, "When I started making this movie a year ago, many people asked me why I wanted to lose money by investing in a Konkani movie. Then I remembered that our bishop has imparted education to many by starting St Joseph's Engineering College. Many people have come to this city for various reasons. If each person tells around ten people, then at least 50,000 people will watch this movie and it will be a success. If this movie becomes a hit, then I will produce another movie next year."

Addressing the gathering, Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza said, "Konkani speaking people are in thousands. It is my wish that all the Konkani speaking people watch this movie. Henry D'Silva has taken a step to support and promote the Konkani language because of his love for his mother tongue. So I request all Konkanis to watch this movie and support him. If we support this movie, then more Konkani movies will come up in future. I congratulate the entire team and wish this movie becomes a great success."

Richard Castelino, Konkani movie producer said, "I request parish priests of the 200 parishes to urge their parishioners to watch the movie. If they do so, then at least 1 lac Konkani speaking people will watch. We have been lagging behind in the movie industry. I have watched this movie and I must say it has come out neatly. I request all to watch this movie."

Chief whip of the Legislative Council MLC Ivan D'Souza said, "In our society many people have the capacity to produce movies. But maybe because of various reasons they are not able to do so. I request the people in this industry to support Konkani movies and request all to watch this movie and thereby support Konkani cinema. I wish all the very best to the entire team."

Mangaluru South MLA J R Lobo said, "The audience make the movie a success by watching it in large numbers. We should speak Konkani more to make our language grow. We need to protect our language. A movie has many positive things in it. We should analyze the message in the movie and appreciate the artistes. I wish great success to this movie."

The movie will be screened four times a day at 10 am, 1 pm, 4 pm and 7 pm.

Founder and managing director of Daijiworld Walter Nandalike, proprietor of Rohan Corporation Rohan Monteiro, president of Mandd Sobhann Louis J Pinto, actress Ester Noronha and other cast and crew of the movie were present.
