Mangaluru, Aug 8: Mangaluru south MLA J R Lobo on Saturday August 8 announced various developmental works to be held in the constituency.

Addressing a press meet at his office, Lobo briefed about plans to develop crematoriums, Rang Mandir, computerization of MCC and various infrastructural works.

Crematoriums

"Kadri crematorium has many problems. The roads are narrow and there are problems pertaining to basic necessities. Hence the government has given a grant of Rs 70 lac and many donors are coming forward to develop this crematorium. All the necessary steps will be taken to develop this crematorium," Lobo said.

"In Boloor there is problem with the electric cremation machine. There are very few companies that take up the work to repair electric cremation, but we have contacted a company to repair it. It would be ready by 6 months. If this electric crematorium is repaired maximum problems in Boloor crematorium will be solved," he added.

"Nandigudda crematorium too has some problems. A meeting will be held with MCC officials and a blueprint will be prepared to solve these problems. We are planning a small crematorium in Begre too. Shaktinagar crematorium is the best of all the crematoriums. It is well maintained and all crematoriums need to be developed in the same way. When a person dies, the last rites need to be done in respectful manner. Hence we are making all necessary arrangements to develop the crematoriums in the best possible way," Lobo said.

Kadri Rang Mandir

The MLA said, "Tenders have been called for the construction of Rang Mandir at Kadri and the work will be started shortly. The Rang Mandir will be constructed at a cost of Rs 27.5 lac, electrification will be done at a cost of Rs 3 lac, and gallery and other arrangements will be done at a cost of Rs 5 lac. It is a dream project of corporator Ashok D K."

Computerization of MCC

Informing that the process of computerization of Mangaluru City Corporation will be completed within a year, Lobo said, "MCC is being computerized and all the facilities like paying tax, water bill, application for birth and death certificates and trade licence will be made online. By doing so the revenue of the corporation would double as it will be more transparent and there would be no spill out of the revenue."

Other projects

J R lobo also gave details on other developmental projects which will be taken up in the city and said, "Most of the projects have got sanctions and funds from the government and some proposals are pending for approval. There are 42 projects we have taken up like development of Kadri Park, Mangaluru market development, construction of bus stand in Pumpwell, parking facility in Hampankatta old bus stand, broadening of road to the Kankanady railway station, construction of roads and footpaths, construction of railway underbridge in Mahakalipadpu and Kudpadi, construction of Kulshekar Kannagudde and Kongur Mata road, construction of road and drainage at Padil railway underbridge, construction of road from Yeyyadi to Shaktinagar, Kanakarabettu road construction near Fisheries College, construction of hanging bridge in Tannirbavi, Netravati to Kannur bypass road construction, and many more."

Some of the other works he mentioned were construction of Mini Vidhana Soudha, construction of PWD quatres, Court road, Bajal road, construction of road from Urwa store to Sultan Battery, Kabbadi and badminton indoor stadium near Urwa Store, construction of international swimming pool in Yemmekere, construction of cricket stadium in Bondel, development of Gujjarakere lake, developing the third phase of fishing harbour, developing fish market at the old harbour, installation of underground electricity cables in the city, construction of electricity substation in Mannagudda, and upgrading the electricity substation near Nehru Maidan.

Mr. Lobo, The manhole in front of " Shoppin " at Collectors gate junction has been overflowing since 10 days. Repeated complaints have fallen on deaf ears. I have to wade in this sewage water to pick up my son from Nazareth Convent School. This is happening pretty often. Kindly do the needful at your earliest. God Bless and Thank you.

When the Balmatta road was being concretised the old narrow drainage pipes were not replaced with bigger pipes. These old pipes were layed in the 1960's. More and more big buildings are mushrooming every year. How can those old pipes take on the pressure of today ??

In the Picture you see Mr Shashidar Hegde Former Mayor of Mangalore in whose tenure the ADB Loan project for drinking water got underway and the pipelines were all laid. Mr J R Lobo was the Project Director of KUIDFC the implementing agency. Till today we have not been connected to this pipeline which is lying outside our doorstep. These people are only giving sound bites. It is high time we question them on the money spent for the earlier projects, their completion status and also the implementation before they can announce new projects. Each time you hear new projects being announced and everyone is temporarily happy that new roads etc are being made. What of those roads were there are no drains and footpaths especially the recently constructed Jyothi to Bunts hostel? Unless we the citizens take note of these matters and question them in every forum, these jokers will have afield day at our expense and then we have to bear the burden of interest and principal payment for delays in the projects when they increase our taxes. Why is the media not asking them about this. Are they ignorant about it?

We need information on completed projects, duration for completion and quality of work.
MLA/DC/MCC.MUDA must fix the period for completion of the prjects, quality of work, responsibility of each individual in completion of the prjects. The grant allocation, quantum, quality of work, peiod of work and person designated for work should be published in the respective place of work.
The wideningand concrete work of road is no to public unless the road side parking cleared by traffic dept.
The government medical college can be started in mangalore because of available infrastructure. only private college flourish. There are 4 minister in karnataka from D.K. dstrict, and two former CM.AND one cental minister. These people can do this work
The interest of MLA AND DC is appreciable but it needs support of all citizens.

    Dear Daijiworld readers.
Good to hear development works,i think many people don not know that the GOVT sanctions many up liftment projects for OBC,BACKWARD class etc, these MLA's implement only few as per their convenience or vote bank politics, its high time that the GOVT must publish in every leading newspaper the sanctioned schemes development works, at least citizens are aware of it, and don't let the crook MLA's to keep the informtaion to themselves.Even if the TALUK level officers, DC, gets the intimation from the GOVT, the elected MLA's ask them to delay or keep it aside.I have one example which i will reveal after sometime , i am just waiting for the development.
