Mangaluru: 14 students trained at CFAL, Kuntikan excel in JEE-advanced

Mangaluru, Jun 20: Fourteen students of Centre for Advanced Learning (CFAL) at Kuntikan here have excelled JEE-advanced this year.

JEE-main and JEE-advanced are the two stages involved with the selection process of Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT). Out of 13.03 lac students who appeared for JEE-main this year, 1.5 lac made it to JEE-advanced 2015, which was held on May 24. Among them, 26,456 students have qualified.

The 14 students are Leon Fernandes, Pradeep Pai, Vilas M, Ritwik Vidyarthi, Siddarth V, Adarsh Somayaji, Aneesh Aithal, Sriganesh, Ashika Nayak, K V Siddarth, Risabh Shetty, Kapil Bharath, Anupama and Benitto Pavithran. They belong to different educational institutions in the city.

Performance in this examination forms the basis for admission into bachelors, integrated masters, and dual degree programmes (entry at 10 2 level) in the 16 IITs and Indian School of Mines (ISM).

Since its inception in 2009, Centre for Advanced Learning (CFAL) at Kuntikan in the city has been coming across tremendous success, with 62 of its students having been selected for IIT entrance exams from 2011 to 2015, the highest student selection from Mangaluru. Sumith, who bagged All India Rank 38 (Karnataka Rank 1) in 2014 has been most notable of the achievements.

CFAL training comprises over 1,400 hours of classroom training, unique course material, periodic tests and mock exams spread over two years. Principal, Severine Rosario, said that constant monitoring and mentoring by experienced and dedicated teachers, uncompromising academic quality, and individual attention students get, have contributed to this phenomenal success.

One of the students, Siddarth, who missed out classes at Kendriya Vidyalaya because he had to take care of his father who had met with an accident, enrolled in CFAL and got ranking of 3,946. He is confident of getting a seat in National Institute of Technology-Suratkal. He has interest in pursing course in BITS-Pilani too. Many of the successful students, including Vilas M, who has been ranked 2,507, are desirous of taking up computer courses.
