I live now in USA, but originally I am from Udupi, and very proud of my Tulu culture, but we must respect and love the land which gave us the shelter, that is Karnataka, and Kannada is our state langugage, it is totally nothing wrong use Kannda script to write Tulu, we are minority and every once tuluvian uses kannada as a channel to express their views, at home we all speak in tulu and my kids writes tulu using Kannada script, nothing wrong with that, come on folks donot bash Kannda and karnataka state, it gave us the bread and shelter, donot forget that, i love USA, because it gave me my bread, I will speak wrong about the land which gave me the bread and butter, like wise for all Tulu people Karnataka and Kannada gave us the bread and butter, resepct that kannda culutre and grow with that, every single TULU people who live in NYC have very close assoication with New York kannda koota and served and serving in high Kannda Koota utive committee. donot try to divide between kannada and tulu, they are inseparable, like honey and milk, drink it and enjoy it. Congratulations to Tulu sahitya academy for releasing Tulu script. It looks slight modification of Malyalum script. No doubt some where I read that Malayalum script is derived from Tulu script.

The script should not creat any problem in development of language.

Already there is a problem in Konkany to which script to use either deva naari, kannada, malyalum, roman. every body confused.

similar thing should should not happen here.

    All the best

It’s a high time now really we wanted a man like uma kotian ….. Hats off to you sir, we are tuluvas we have separate identity, whole india will recognize us tuluvas and not as tribals of Karnataka which speaks a tribal dialect, I wanted ask a question to gopal and suresh , when u have your own mother will u call her as mother or u like to call neighbor aunty as ur mother ? do u people think is it easy to do this ? not at all, when people are doing good for tulu, u can’t do anything but at least encourage them , support them , over is over, after Christian missionaries destroyed tulu script now its time to wake up tuluvas … its ur wish , u like to call urself as TULUVA or KANNADIGA?? TULU IS OUR IDENITY , we will learn tulu script not kannada script

Separate script for Tulu is not necessary. It is better us Kannada script for languages like Tulu, Beary, Konkani, Kodava etc. Note that Devanagari script is used for Hindi, Marathi etc. Roman script is used for most of the European languages.

Hearty congratulations to GVS Ullal for his commendable job in bringing out the Tulu Aksharamale and Tulu Sahitya Academy for their encouragement. This will boost the language since it will have its own identity in the field of literature amongst the Tuluvas irrespective where they have settled as the script will be in common. I would also like the Konkani Sahitya Academy to still consider one common script i.e. Devanagari script from where the writings of this language originated. Konkani language spoken in over 4 states will flourish under a common script, if some sacrifice is done over state language script including english, which actually is not the script of Konkani.
