Restrictions to continue in parts of Srinagar

Srinagar, Jan 5 (IANS): The authorities on Tuesday decided to continue restrictions in parts of this Jammu and Kashmir summer capital to maintain law and order, police said.

"Restrictions will continue today (Tuesday) in areas falling under jurisdiction of Zadibal and Rainawari police stations," a senior police officer told IANS here.

Restrictions were imposed in parts of Srinagar on Monday to contain protests called by Shia community leaders to protest the execution of Shia cleric, Sheikh Nimr Al Nimr by Saudi government.

All pedestrian and vehicular movement in the areas placed under restrictions is being disallowed by contingents of police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

No untoward incident has occurred anywhere so far, police said.
