States haven't used funds for post-matric scholarships for STs


New Delhi, Aug 3 (IANS): Twenty states and union territories did not spend a single penny out of the total fund released for post-matric scholarships for students from the Scheduled Tribes in 2014-15, the union government said on Monday.

Minister of State for Tribal Affairs Mansukhbhai Dhanjibhai Vasava said this in a written reply to the Lok Sabha.

According to the statement of funds released and expenditure in the last three years and current year, the states and and union territories where utilization reported was nil were Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Sikkim, Daman and Diu and Andaman and Nicobar islands.
