Egypt hopes n-deal will bring stability

Cairo, Jul 15 (IANS): Egypt on Tuesday said it hopes that the agreement reached between Iran and the world powers would lead the Middle East region to security and stability.

"We hope it will stop the eruption of an armament race in the Middle East and will free it from WMD (weapons of mass destruction), including nuclear ones," Xinhua quoted Egyptian foreign ministry spokesman Badr Abdel-Atty as saying in a statement.

The official said Egypt was currently studying the agreement to assess its content accurately, and hoped that it will conform to the treaty on non-proliferation of nuclear weapons.

Iran and six world powers -- the US, Russia, China, Britain, France and Germany -- reached in Vienna on Tuesday an agreement to limit Iran's uranium enrichment capacity, level and stockpile for a specific period in return for relieving the sanctions imposed on the country for its nuclear programme.
