Panaji, Apr 13: Indian holiday resort of Goa will host UK's most loved musical and art festival -- The Big Chill -- on its shores, this weekend.
The band will make their Indian debut.
For the first time, since its inception, The Big Chill, will be entertaining art and music lovers on sandy Goan beaches, known to offer red carpet welcome to hippies since 80's.
"Beach parties in Goa are synonym with trans music. But we are offering a different kind of music and art to the visitors here," Pete Lawrence, founder of this 1994-born musical festival told reporters in Goa's capital city of Panaji.
Goa, the hippy hotspot, has hoard of trans parties which run through days and night. "The Big Chill is more of a family affair. We will have different kind of music including Indian classical and folk music being played during the party," Lawrence said announcing the party which will begin on April 14.
Goa's Ashwen beach, a hippy hotspot, has been selected for the performance.
The Big Chill, after their performance across the globe including The Greek Islands, Cairo, Helsinki, Budapest, Prague, Australia, New Zealand and Japan, will be performing for the first time in India, and rightly in Goa, the world famous tourist spot attracting 23 lakh leisureseekers every year.
"We have grown up from mere Sunday multi media event to a huge popular musical event. The growth is slow but steady," Katrin Larkin, co-founder, stated.
Interestingly, the organisers have found support in form of Indian celebrities who are recognised internationally like fashion designer Wendell Rodricks. "I may not be participating in the event... But for sure I support it as it is the family festival," Rodricks remarked.
Rodricks said that the festival is accepted for its purity and for offering entertainment which is devoid of trans music.
The artists performing under the Big Chill Goa tent include dance music biggies Coldcut, The Bays and DJ's Norman Jay, Jose Padilla of the popular Café Del Mar, Tom Middleton, Hexstatic and others.
