Margao, Jan 19: After the incident of three Nagaland students drowning in the sea at Colva on New Year day 2007, another three students, this time from Chikmagalur in Karnataka, fell victim to the fury of the waves on Thursday evening.

According to the Colva police, a group of 80 students and instructors of a Pre- University college in Karnataka, where down in Goa on a study tour. On Thursday when some of these students ventured into the sea for bathing, strong undercurrent wave dragged them deep into the sea. Their colleagues and locals tried to rescue them, but they could not.

Anil Pakkamanehi (18), Chetan P (19), Manjunath Swami (19), from Chikmagalur, Karnatka, were reported to have drowned. Police could find the body of only Anil by late Thursday evening.

Search is on to trace the two others.

Colva police are investigating the case.
