Mangalore, Oct 22: The 53rd birthday of Matha Amritanandamaye was celebrated at the Matha Amritanandamaye Math, Bolor on Sunday.

Mangalore MLA N Yogish Bhat was the chief guest at the programme. Speaking on the occasion, Bhat said that ‘Amma’ has become the spiritual power of the national through her life of service to mankind. Such saints are required for peaceful co-existence, he added.

Matha Amritanandamaye Seva Samiti president Dr Jeevraj Sorake presided over the programme.

Brahmacharini Mangalamrutha Chaitanya of the Math, Dayakara Karkera of Amrithapuri Ashram and industrialist Muralidar Lamani were also present.

 

Amrita scholarship was also distributed to deserving poor students.
