Mangalore, Oct 21: Acting on a reliable tip-off, the Kadri police led by inspector K M Chandrashekar on Friday night raided the Shri Rama Recreation Club located at the Shaktinagar cross at Kulshekar in the city. The place was allegedly being used as a gambling den.

Janardan, Rajesh and Dayanand have been arrested. The police have confiscated Rs 590 and pack of playing cards allegedly used in gambling.

A police source, on condition of anonymity, indicated that some private organizations were planning to raid the den themselves for reason of Shri Rama's name being used for a gambling den and bringing it under disrepute by the owner.

However, in view of the people involved in running the den and those frequenting it, and also keeping in mind the unfortunate happenings in the city a fortnight ago, they dropped their idea. The police, in the meantime, got the tip-off.
