Bangalore, Sep 17:  A group of Kannadigas settled in Los Angeles, US, have come forward to set up a bio-tech University near Mysore.

This was disclosed by the Industries Minister Katta Subra-manya Naidu at a media conference here yesterday morning.

Referring to his visit to US to attend the World Kannada Conference, the Minister said the delegation had talks with Kannadigas settled in US and other US-based companies regarding launching of industrial ventures in Karnataka.

The proposed bio-tech University will be set up at a cost of Rs. 400 crore. It will provide employment to 15,000 people.

Naidu disclosed that an American company has offered to start an IT industry with an investment of Rs. 2,000 crore in Mysore. It will create 8,000 jobs.

Another company has plans to set up an IT park costing Rs. 200 crore, he disclosed.
