Mangalore, Sep 13: As reported earlier in these columns, a day-long, first-ever Konkani convention of Chikmagalur and Hassan districts will be held at Balehonnur on Sunday September 17.

The "Konkani Mahotsav" as it is named would be a perfect stage for Konkani buffs from Chikmagalur and Hassan districts to come under one roof and strengthen their bonds and trace their roots.  The convention has been jointly been organized by Konkani Prachar Sanchalan of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy and Konkani Yuva Awaz.

Noted businessman and community leader R Colaco will be the chief guest on the occasion while Balehonnur parish priest Fr Aloysius D'Souza will be the guest of honour.  Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy president Eric Ozario will preside over the function.

Fr Pratap Naik, SJ, noted Konkani activist and scholar from Goa, Dr Edward Nazareth, secretary of Konkani Prachar Sanchalan and Victor Mathias of Sangati Media and member of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy will deliver lecture on different issues on the occasion.

A Konkani dance and music programme "Konkani Darshan" by 'Mandd Sobhann’ troupe will be the special attraction on the occasion.
