Lourdes Central School concludes Annual Sports Day 2026 with valedictory ceremony

Mangaluru, Oct 8: Lourdes Central School, Bejai, Mangaluru, conducted the Valedictory Ceremony of its Annual Sports Day 2026 on October 6 at Mangala Stadium. The gathering was graced by the principal, Fr Johnson L Sequeira, vice principal Anita Thomas, academic coordinators Deepa D’Souza, Suneetha K, and Lynette Periera, staff and students.

The valedictory programme commenced with the assembly of the students, followed by the address of the principal, who appreciated the entire gathering for displaying a sporting spirit throughout the day. Adiya Alva, sports minister of grade X, proposed the vote of thanks.

The much-awaited prize distribution ceremony then followed. The March Past Award was presented to the deserving Coral House. The individual champions, Ethan Marcus Pais, Kiara Maria Nazareth, P Jenisha, Abdul Hameed Ahnaf, Nireekshith UP, Rhea Karthika Uchil, Seanna Milvia Rodrigues, and Pareekshith U P, were felicitated.

The overall championship trophy was bagged by Amber House. The house captain and vice-captain, Naithik and Saathvi Shetty, received the coveted rolling shield from the dignitaries. The relay winners of all the categories were also felicitated, and the audience cheered their Houses enthusiastically.

The ceremony concluded with the lowering of the LCS school flag. The principal, Fr Johnson L Sequeira, officially declared the LCS Annual Sports Meet 2026 closed. The school flag was ceremonially folded by the Physical Education teachers and presented to the principal for safe custody until the next sports meet.

The event came to a dignified close with the national anthem, as everyone joined together in a spirit of pride and unity. The valedictory ceremony served as a fitting conclusion to a memorable Sports Day, celebrating not merely victories but also perseverance, teamwork, discipline and respect for the spirit of sport.
