Sullia, Oct 7: The 1997–2000 batch of Vidyabodhini High School, Balila, held a reunion and teachers’ felicitation programme at their alma mater on October 3, marking 25 years since they completed their school education.
The former students gathered to relive their school-day memories and share experiences from their journey over the past 25 years. The reunion also featured a special felicitation programme to honour the teachers who had taught the batch.
















The programme was held under the presidentship of Radhakrishnarao U, president of Vidyabodhini Educational Society (Regd), Balila, and was inaugurated by P G S N Prasad, administrator of the educational institutions.
National Award-winning retired headmaster B V Shagrithaya, retired headmaster Jattappa A, retired teachers K Narayana Bhat and Srinivasa Rai, school staff K V Sharma Balila, Krishnappa Moolya and Padmaya Gowda J, National Award-winning retired teacher K Purandara Narayana Bhat, retired headmaster M S Shivaram Shastri, Yashodhara N, teacher Bharathi and headmaster Udayakumar Rai S were specially honoured.
On the occasion, the 1997–2000 batch handed over a donation of Rs 1.20 lac to the school for its infrastructure development. The amount was handed over by Prashanth Shedikare on behalf of the batch. The alumni also assured continued support for the development of the institution.
Senior Alumni Association president Sudhakar Rai A M, high school SDMC president Harinakshi B, Parent-Teacher Committee president Ramesh Kachila, primary school SDMC president Seetharam Kayara, Vidyabodhini Educational Society vice-president Subrahmanya Bhat Mundugaru, joint secretary Bharathi Shankar Adala, teaching and non-teaching staff, and present class 10 students were present.
Batch students Priya and Aparna led the prayer. A minute’s silence was observed in memory of teachers who had served during the batch’s school years and are no more.
Batch student Dr Mahesh Padyana delivered the introductory address, while Mohammed Sharief Balila read the felicitation citation. Headmaster Udayakumar Rai S welcomed the gathering and batch student Dr Sachin Nadka proposed the vote of thanks. Madhu P R and Avinash K S, both from the same batch, compered the programme.
Batch alumnus Sriharsha Nettar, who cleared the IAS examination and is currently serving as divisional director of the Central Government’s department of posts in the Kalyana Karnataka division at Dharwad, interacted with the present class 10 students and provided them with career guidance.
The alumni later spent time sharing memories of their 25-year journey over lunch and refreshments. They also participated in fun games and entertainment activities, making the reunion a memorable occasion filled with friendship, affection and camaraderie.
The gathering concluded in the evening with the alumni cherishing the memories of their school days and the opportunity to reconnect with old friends after 25 years.
