Mumbai father held for allegedly killing 20-year-old daughter

Mumbai, Oct 5: A 45-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly strangling his 20-year-old daughter to death in Wadala East after she reportedly opposed his plans to marry again.

The incident took place in the Medona Colony area of Wadala East. The deceased has been identified as Rifat Sharif Khan, 20, while the accused has been identified as her father, Sharif Raza Hussain Khan, 45.

According to preliminary information, the accused wanted to marry again, but Rifat had strongly opposed the proposal. The father and daughter had reportedly been involved in frequent arguments over the issue for the past few days.

Police suspect that the accused allegedly strangled Rifat when no one else was present at home. She was found with serious injuries around her neck.

After receiving information about the incident, Wadala police rushed to the spot and took the woman's body into custody. It was sent to KEM Hospital in Mumbai for a post-mortem examination.

The Wadala police have registered a murder case and arrested Sharif Raza Hussain Khan in connection with the incident.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the alleged killing, including when and how the crime was committed and whether anyone else was involved.
