Mangaluru, Sep 26: Father Muller College of Pharmaceutical Sciences (FMCOPS) celebrated World Pharmacists Day 2026 with great enthusiasm on September 25 at the college auditorium.
The celebration was organised to recognise the significant contribution of pharmacists to healthcare and to highlight their evolving role in promoting health and improving patient care. The programme was conducted in accordance with the global observance of World Pharmacists Day and the theme for 2026, “Empowering pharmacists for healthier futures.”
The programme commenced with a warm welcome by the masters of ceremony, Sharin Thomas and Manisha Mascarenhas, associate professors, FMCOPS, who highlighted the significance of the occasion and the importance of empowering pharmacists with knowledge, skills and professional responsibility.
The celebration began with a soulful prayer song by the students, invoking the blessings of the Almighty. This was followed by the invitation of the dignitaries onto the dais and their floral welcome as a mark of respect and appreciation.
The formal function commenced with the welcome address by Dr Satish S, principal, FMCOPS, who warmly welcomed the dignitaries, faculty members, students and guests.
The highlight of the celebration was the chief guest’s address by Dr Blany J Lobo, who shared valuable insights into the evolving role of pharmacists and emphasised the importance of professional knowledge, continuous learning and responsible healthcare practice. The address encouraged students to recognise their responsibilities as future healthcare professionals and to contribute meaningfully towards the health and well-being of society.
As part of the World Pharmacists Day 2026 celebrations, various student activities and competitions were organised to encourage creativity, teamwork and professional awareness. The activities provided students with an opportunity to express their understanding of pharmacy and the theme “Empowering pharmacists for healthier futures” through innovative and engaging presentations.
The programme also included the prize distribution ceremony, where students were recognised for their participation and achievements in the various competitions conducted as part of the celebration. The prizes were announced by Nishmitha Gretta D’Souza and distributed by the dignitaries.
The event further emphasised the importance of ethical practice, continuous learning, professional development and service to society, encouraging students to strengthen their knowledge and skills and to understand the important role of pharmacists in shaping healthier communities.
As a token of gratitude, a memento presentation was made to the chief guest. This was followed by the vote of thanks delivered by Ramdas Bhat, who expressed sincere appreciation to the management, dignitaries, faculty members, staff, students and all those who contributed to the successful conduct of the programme.
The celebration concluded with the Institutional Anthem, followed by refreshments for the gathering.
The celebration of World Pharmacists Day 2026 at FMCOPS served as a meaningful platform to recognise the vital contribution of pharmacists and to inspire budding pharmacists to strengthen their knowledge, skills and commitment towards building healthier futures and serving society.
