Tel Aviv, Sep 17: A Palestinian man was arrested in Tel Aviv after allegedly running over a cyclist with a stolen car, leaving the cyclist critically injured. The victim was later pronounced dead at a hospital, Israeli police said on Thursday.

According to police, the 24-year-old suspect from Nablus stole the vehicle on Yunitsman Street and subsequently struck the cyclist while driving it.

The suspect was arrested, and police reportedly found a bag containing tools allegedly used for vehicle theft inside the stolen vehicle. The items included an ignition control module, a hammer and implements used to break glass.

Police are investigating the scene and gathering further details about the incident.

Authorities also determined that the suspect had entered Israel illegally and did not possess the required documentation to cross from the West Bank.

The incident is the second reported case in September involving a West Bank resident allegedly stealing a vehicle in Tel Aviv.
