Sindhudurg, Sep 16: A leisurely family outing at Amboli Waterfall in Maharashtra's Sindhudurg district turned into a frightening experience when a large snake suddenly fell from the rocks above and landed on the shoulder of a man carrying a child.

The incident, captured on video by a tourist, has gone viral on social media.

The video shows the man carrying the child while walking across the slippery terrain near the waterfall. Other members of the family can be seen gathered nearby as water cascades down the rocks.

The situation suddenly turned tense when the snake fell from above and landed on the man's shoulder. Before he could react, the reptile slipped away and disappeared into a crevice in the rocks.

Tourists at the spot can be heard screaming and moving away from the area. The man carrying the child also appeared startled by the unexpected encounter.

One person in the video can be heard claiming that the snake was a cobra. However, the exact species of the snake has not been confirmed.

Amboli Waterfall, located in the Sahyadri Hills, is a popular monsoon tourist destination. The incident has also highlighted the risks associated with visiting waterfalls and forested areas during the rainy season, when slippery rocks, dense vegetation and crevices can provide shelter for snakes and other wildlife.

Tourists are advised to exercise caution, maintain a safe distance from vegetation and rocky crevices, and avoid approaching or disturbing wildlife while visiting such locations.
