Mangaluru: ‘Vande Mataram: Veer Dharm’ staged at Kalaangann

Media Release

Mangaluru, Sep 7: The 297th edition of the Monthly Theatre series was held at Kalaangann in Shakthinagar on September 6. Renowned Goan playwright Anant Kamat Bambolkar inaugurated the event by ringing the bell. Mandd Sobhann president Louis Pinto honored the chief guest with a bouquet.‌

Following the formal program, artistes from 'Antruz Ghudiyo' — a theatre troupe recognized with the 'Outstanding Service Organization' award by the Goa Konkani Akademi — delivered a brilliant performance of the play ‘Vande Mataram: Veer Dharm’.

This play had previously garnered widespread appreciation when it was staged at the National Theatre Festival, organized by the Central Sangeet Natak Akademi to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the national song, 'Vande Mataram'. Written by Purushottam Anandi Gurudas Mardolkar and directed by Anant Bambolkar, the play is based on the life story of 'Bala Mapari', Goa's very first young martyr.
