Israel, Sep 4: Infant Jesus Kids Club – Israel organised a vibrant celebration of Konkani Recognition Day and ‘Swaad Bharat – Festival of Indian Unity’, bringing together around 200 children, parents, community members, distinguished guests and Israeli friends.

The event provided a platform to celebrate language, culture, unity and the spirit of service, with members of the Indian community and Israeli friends coming together for a memorable gathering.

Indian Embassy counsellor Sridhar was the chief guest. Directors of the Hotline organisation, advocate Sabina and social worker Elad were also present as honoured guests. Their presence and encouragement added significance to the celebrations.

The programme began with the traditional lighting of the lamp, followed by speeches and a series of cultural performances. Children and other artistes presented songs and colourful dance performances showcasing India's rich cultural heritage.

The celebrations also highlighted the importance of preserving Konkani language, culture and traditions among the younger generation growing up away from India and ensuring that these traditions are passed on to future generations.

Children of Infant Jesus Kids Club participated enthusiastically in the celebrations, proudly holding the Konkani flag and conveying the message, “Konkani Ammi Maay Bhas” — “Konkani is our mother tongue.”

As part of the programme, charitable organisations and individuals who have been actively involved in helping others and serving the community were specially honoured. The club expressed its heartfelt gratitude for their continued contribution to society.

One of the major attractions of the day was the ‘Swaad Bharat Food Festival’, where a variety of dishes representing different regions and communities of India were prepared and served with enthusiasm.

The food festival received an encouraging response, with guests and participants appreciating the wide range of dishes. The event offered a glimpse of how India's diverse culinary traditions can bring people together.

Several Israeli friends also took part in the celebrations, further strengthening the friendship and cultural ties between the Indian and Israeli communities.

The event was made successful through the wholehearted support and cooperation of parents, children, volunteers, food stall teams, artistes, supporters and well-wishers of Infant Jesus Kids Club – Israel.

The Konkani Recognition Day celebrations went beyond being a cultural event, serving as a celebration of the mother tongue, cultural roots, younger generations and India's unity in diversity.
