Patna, Aug 31: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and former Bihar minister Tej Pratap Yadav has claimed that he has been receiving death threats and alleged that people close to him betrayed him, trapped him in a honey trap and attempted to blackmail him.

Tej Pratap, the elder son of RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, made the allegations during a recent episode of the Bhojpuri Bawal show hosted by Kishore Ajwani. He spoke at length about his personal and political life and alleged that people around him had attempted to damage his public image.

According to Tej Pratap, people were allegedly being paid to abuse and criticise him on social media with the intention of forcing him out of public life.

He also claimed that a social media post carrying his father Lalu Prasad Yadav's name had stated that he was being expelled from the family. Tej Pratap alleged that the post had not been written by his father but by a person from Haryana whom he referred to as "Jaichand".

Tej Pratap further alleged that his former personal assistant Motilal had sided with his political opponents and fled with Rs 20 lakh belonging to the party. He accused Motilal of betraying his trust and claimed that he shared details about his movements and meetings with the person he referred to as Jaichand.

He also alleged that the same person had met a senior Central leader in Delhi and played a role in the withdrawal of his security cover.

Tej Pratap claimed that he continued to receive threats and expressed concern about his safety while travelling to certain areas.

"Kadhachit koni dynamite lavun deil. Ha Jaichand majhi hatya karvun deil," he said during the programme, alleging that the person could have him killed.

The RJD leader also made allegations of honey trapping and blackmail. He claimed that an individual initially gained his confidence by undertaking work related to the party before allegedly trapping him in a honey trap.

He alleged that he was subsequently threatened with a case and imprisonment and was asked to pay between Rs 5 lakh and Rs 10 lakh. He further claimed that attempts were made to create a negative atmosphere against him in the media.

Tej Pratap also referred to an FIR during the programme and alleged that a conspiracy involving his political opponents was behind the threats to his life.

He claimed that Motilal used to provide his updates to the person he called Jaichand, including information about where he was travelling and whom he was meeting. He also alleged that Motilal had committed fraud in his name and was now running a company using his money.

During the programme, Tej Pratap played a recording which he said supported his allegations.

Tej Pratap did not name the individuals he was referring to during the show. His remarks, including the allegations of threats, honey trapping, blackmail and conspiracy, could not be independently verified.
