Mangaluru, Aug 29: The Institute of Aviation Studies, Srinivas University, organised a chess tournament on August 27 at the Aviation Campus. The tournament aimed to encourage sportsmanship, intellectual engagement, concentration, and strategic thinking among students. The tournament witnessed enthusiastic participation from BBA aviation management and BBA aviation and logistics management students, with a total of 82 players, comprising 66 boys and 16 girls, competing in the individual category. The matches were conducted under the supervision of the physical education directors of Srinivas University. The participants displayed remarkable focus, patience, tactical skills, and competitive spirit throughout the tournament.
In the men’s category, Joyal Binu from second year BBA aviation management emerged as the winner, while Keerthan Raj from first year BBA aviation and logistics management secured the runner-up position. In the women’s category, Janani from second year BBA aviation and logistics management emerged as the winner, with Amulya from first year BBA aviation and logistics management securing the runner-up position.






The tournament was conducted under the esteemed guidance and support of Dr Pavithra Kumari, dean, Institute of Aviation Studies. SWO, HODs, sports coordinators, faculty members, student volunteers, and all staff of the Institute of Aviation Studies.
The successful conduct of the tournament reflected the Institute’s commitment to providing students with opportunities to participate in extracurricular and sporting activities alongside their academic pursuits. The event concluded on a positive note, with participants appreciating the opportunity to compete, learn, and demonstrate their strategic abilities.
