Mangaluru, Aug 20: Srinivas University, Institute of Engineering and Technology (SUIET) and the Institute of Allied Health Sciences (SUIAHS), in association with the National Service Scheme (NSS) and Eco Club, organized Vanamahotsava 2026 – campus plantation drive on August 14 at the Mukka Campus to promote environmental awareness, sustainability, and the importance of tree plantation among students and faculty members. The programme commenced with a welcome address delivered by Dr Swathi D, course coordinator, department of FS, IAHS.
The plantation drive was inaugurated by the chancellor of Srinivas University, Dr A Srinivas Rao, who planted the first sapling, setting the initiative in motion in accordance with his vision of fostering a greener and more sustainable campus. The programme was graced by the presence of Dr Ajay Kumar, registrar (Development), Srinivas University; Dr Ramakrishna Hegde, dean, SUIET; and Dr Pavana Krishnamoorthy, dean, SUIAHS.






The dignitaries, faculty members, and students from SUIET and SUIAHS enthusiastically participated in the plantation drive by planting various saplings, promoting a sense of environmental responsibility and contributing towards a greener campus.
The programme was coordinated by Thrivikram Prabhu, NSS coordinator, SUIET, and Vikhyath Bangera S, Eco Club coordinator, SUIAHS, with the active support and participation of faculty members, NSS volunteers, and students from both institutes.
The programme concluded successfully with a collective commitment towards protecting nature, nurturing the planted saplings, and promoting a greener, healthier, and sustainable environment.
