Bengaluru, Aug 15: The School of Information Technology (SoIT), St Joseph’s University (SJU), Bengaluru, organised a two-hour hands-on workshop, Automated Workflows for Enterprise AI, aimed at giving students practical exposure to technologies driving the adoption of artificial intelligence in enterprises.
The workshop was led by Daniel Bruce D’Souza, technical architect at Bosch Global Software Technologies (BGSW) and an alumnus of AIMIT, St Aloysius College, where he completed his MCA in 2016.



Conducted using Google Colab, the session enabled students to work directly with AI tools and techniques. It began with an overview of the evolution of AI, from task-specific systems and machine learning to deep learning, generative AI and agentic AI. Students were also introduced to prompt design, vector embeddings, document chunking and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), which enables AI systems to generate responses grounded in an organisation’s own data.
The highlight of the workshop was the live development of a ticket-triage AI agent using the open-source LangChain and LangGraph frameworks. The agent was designed to classify incoming tickets, retrieve relevant information from a knowledge base and decide whether a ticket should be resolved automatically, escalated to a human or logged for follow-up.
The workshop also introduced students to freely available tools including Google Colab, the Groq API, Hugging Face embedding models and the ChromaDB vector database, allowing them to continue experimenting with the technologies beyond the classroom.
Fr Denzil Lobo SJ, director, School of Information Technology, thanked D’Souza for his interactive and engaging session with the MCA students. Adarsh, a first-year MCA student, introduced the guest speaker.
The programme is part of SJU’s ongoing effort to complement academic learning with hands-on, industry-aligned training and equip students with skills relevant to emerging careers in applied AI, automation engineering and AI product development.
