Mangaluru, Aug 14: The young patriots, the primary students of Mount Carmel Central School, Maryhill, celebrated the 80th Independence Day with a vibrant and meaningful programme centred on freedom, unity, dreams and the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. The programme was hosted by the students of grades III A and C.
The celebration began with a patriotic opening and a prayer featuring interfaith scripture readings, followed by the creative welcome act, ‘We Are Different… Yet We Are One.’ The gathering was warmly welcomed by Jonathan D’Cunha, Diya Hebbar, Sharvari Bhat and Ananya Prashanth.
The highlight of the celebration was the skit, ‘Tomorrow Begins with Us,’ presented by the students. Through a creative journey with a magic time machine, the young performers portrayed their vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, highlighting a green and self-reliant India, technological advancement, innovation, education and empowerment. They conveyed the inspiring message, ‘Innovate! Invent! Inspire!’ The students further brought the patriotic spirit alive through a stirring group song and a vibrant soldier dance.
The chief guest, Silvia Fernandes, former teacher of MCCS, in her address, urged the children, as future nation-builders, to practise values such as punctuality, discipline, kindness and responsibility, along with the wise use of resources. She encouraged them to contribute positively towards building a self-reliant, developed and clean India in keeping with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. The administrator, Sr Carissima, spoke about the significant role of children in shaping a better India.
The winners of the various competitions held as part of the Independence Day celebrations were felicitated. The vote of thanks was proposed by Anusmita Majumdar, Lishaan Kamalaksha and Yashika S Shettigar.
The celebration concluded with a grand finale and the National Anthem. The programme was compered by Akshaj Shetty, Ariana Ruth Lobo, Shriyam S M and Freya Annika Pais.
The celebration not only fostered a deep sense of patriotic spirit among the students but also encouraged them to dream of a better, stronger and more progressive India. Through their performances and the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, the young minds were inspired to believe that they too have a role to play in shaping the nation’s future and building an India they can be proud of.
