Mangaluru, Aug 12: As part of its continuous efforts to promote the holistic development of children, St Aloysius College Pre-primary School proudly introduced ‘Bunnies’, a wing of the Bharat Scouts and Guides, for its young learners. The inaugural ceremony of The Bunny Movement for the Kindergartners was held on August 12 at the school auditorium.
The Bunny Movement is a programme of the Scouts and Guides designed for children between the ages of 3 and 6 years. It aims to promote the overall development of children by nurturing good habits, discipline, cooperation, confidence and social manners. It also encourages personal cleanliness and healthy habits. The motto of the Bunny Movement is “Keep Smiling.”
The chief guest for the occasion was Dr Rahul Tonse Ganesh, dentist and proprietor of Thonse Rahul’s Dental Clinic and assistant district commissioner of the Bharat Scouts and Guides – Mangaluru North. He is also a black belt holder in Karate.
The programme was graced by Fr Johnson Pinto, SJ, correspondent, Jositta Noronha, headmistress, Lavina Veigas, PTA vice-president, Deepsika, guide captain, Anita Priya, cubmaster and Ranjitha, bunny coordinator.
The programme commenced with a prayer conducted by the Scouts and Guides students of Class VI. This was followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries. Joyline Pinto warmly welcomed the gathering.
Ranjitha then highlighted the significance of the day and explained the purpose of the Bunny Movement. The much-awaited inauguration took place with the launching of the Bunny Apron. The dignitaries presented the aprons to the little Bunnies, who proudly wore them and looked smart and cheerful.
Following the inauguration, the little Bunnies participated in the oath-taking ceremony and performed the Bunny salute with enthusiasm. The ceremony marked an important beginning in their journey of learning discipline, responsibility, cleanliness and cooperation.
In his inspiring address, the chief guest encouraged the children to develop good habits, with special emphasis on personal cleanliness and hygiene. His message motivated the little Bunnies to practice cleanliness in their daily lives.
The correspondent, Fr Johnson Pinto, SJ, addressed the Bunnies and encouraged them to continue their journey in as Cubs and Bulbuls followed by Scouts and Guides in the coming years.
A beautiful and lively dance performance was presented by the little Bunnies, adding colour and joy to the occasion. Their cheerful performance was warmly appreciated by everyone present.
The programme was compered by Swathi, who guided the proceedings smoothly. Joyline Pinto proposed the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the chief guest, dignitaries, staff, students and everyone who contributed to making the inauguration a memorable occasion.
