Mumbai, Aug 11: The Maharashtra government is planning to set up electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) depots and Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) across the state.
Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik made the announcement while flagging off Tata Motors’ electric trucks at the Tardeo RTO in Mumbai.
The government is also considering setting up EV charging stations at flyovers under a public-private partnership (PPP) model. Sarnaik said a proposal in this regard has already been sent to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis for approval.

The Minister appealed to people to switch to electric vehicles to help reduce pollution and promote cleaner transportation across the state.
Sarnaik also said that MSRTC is aiming to convert its entire bus fleet to electric buses by 2036 as part of efforts to promote sustainable and environment-friendly public transport.
