New Delhi, Aug 3: Delhi Police has not yet registered a regular First Information Report (FIR) against the minor girl seen making abusive remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protest at Jantar Mantar, police sources said on Monday.

According to the sources, only a Zero FIR transferred from Uttar Pradesh is currently under consideration, and a decision on converting it into a regular FIR is yet to be taken in view of the girl's claimed age.

"A Zero FIR was forwarded by Noida Police last week, but it is yet to be converted into a regular FIR in Delhi. Therefore, the question of withdrawal does not arise at this stage," Delhi Police sources said.

The development comes after Prime Minister Narendra Modi released a video message on Instagram on Friday, stating that he had forgiven the students accused of using abusive language against him during the July 23 protest and urged society to guide them instead of seeking punishment.

"The abusive slogans used against me and my late mother were deeply disturbing. But young people should be given an opportunity to learn from their mistakes," the Prime Minister said.

Following the Prime Minister's message, the girl issued a public apology, claiming that she is 15 years old and had been influenced by others participating in the protest who were raising abusive slogans.

Her mother also expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister, saying his decision to forgive her daughter had given the teenager a "jeevandaan" (new lease of life).

"I have one request to Prime Minister Modi. We are nothing before him. He is the 'raja' of this nation. He has done a truly noble thing by forgiving a child who used such offensive and abusive language against him. I fold my hands and thank him from the bottom of my heart. Today is my daughter's birthday, and the greatest gift she has received is from Prime Minister Modi. He has given her 'jeevandaan'. Today is like a new birth for my daughter," she told.

The case stems from a protest held at Jantar Mantar on July 23, during which a video allegedly showing the girl using derogatory language against the Prime Minister went viral on social media.

Based on a complaint, Noida's Expressway Police Station registered a Zero FIR on July 29 under Sections 352, 353(1) and 356(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), alleging that the remarks insulted the dignity of the constitutional office of the Prime Minister and were intended to promote ill-will and disturb public peace.

The Zero FIR has since been transferred to Parliament Street Police Station in New Delhi, which will decide on further legal action after completing the preliminary examination of the case.
