Udupi, Jul 28: The Students Poornand, Shreya S Nayak, Shivam Shetty, and Tejas Nayak of Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management (SMVITM), Bantakal, achieved a remarkable feat by securing first place with a cash prize of Rs 50,000 in the prestigious “YUGMA TECH FEST 2.0” Hackathon held at JNNCE, Shivamogga, on July 25.
The team participated in the AI for Medical Image Enhancement track and developed an innovative Artificial Intelligence framework for medical image enhancement and segmentation using the BraTS brain tumour dataset and a custom spine dataset. Their solution employed advanced deep learning techniques to improve image clarity and accurately identify tumour and spinal structures, thereby supporting more effective medical diagnosis.

The achievement highlights the students’ technical excellence, innovation, and teamwork, bringing pride to the institution. The Management, Principal, and faculty members congratulated the students and wished them continued success in their future endeavours.
