St Agnes College signs MoU with Lia Travels & Tours to enhance internship, career opportunities

Mangaluru, Jul 25: the department of economics, St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru, facilitated the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between St Agnes College (Autonomous) and Lia Travels and Tours, Bejai, on July 24. The MoU was signed by Sr Dr M Venissa AC, principal, and Eulalia D'Souza, proprietor of Lia Travels and Tours.

Lia Travels and Tours, with over 28 years of experience in the travel and tourism industry and recognised as one of the leading tourist ship handlers in Mangaluru, has partnered with the institution to provide internship opportunities for students. The collaboration aims to bridge the gap between academia and industry by offering practical exposure, enhancing communication skills, and equipping students with the professional competencies required in today's dynamic workplace.

Following the MoU signing ceremony, the department of economics organised a guest talk on ‘Building a Future-Ready Career: Insights from an Entrepreneur’ for the I, II and III BA economics students. Eulalia D'Souza an alumna of St Agnes College, shared her entrepreneurial journey and highlighted the qualities and skills required to become a successful entrepreneur. Drawing from her 35 years of experience, she encouraged students to cultivate perseverance, adaptability, innovation, effective communication, and a commitment to continuous learning.

The interactive session provided valuable insights into entrepreneurship and inspired students to develop a future-ready mindset. The programme marked the beginning of a meaningful industry-academia partnership that will create valuable internship opportunities and contribute to the holistic development and career preparedness of students.
