Mangaluru, Jul 24: Lecturers should continuously remain learners to keep themselves updated with new knowledge and developments. Participating in workshops enhances their skills and knowledge, which in turn contributes to the holistic development of students. Every lecturer should take advantage of such opportunities, said Dr Naveen Shetty, president of the Dakshina Kannada District Principals' Association.

He was inaugurating the one-day district-level workshop for Commerce lecturers, jointly organized by the Dakshina Kannada District Pre-University Colleges Commerce Lecturers' Association and the Dakshina Kannada District Pre-University Colleges Principals' Association at the Prerana Hall of the Indian Red Cross Society in Mangaluru.

The programme was presided over by Sadashiva Nayak, president of the Dakshina Kannada Commerce Lecturers' Association. In his introductory address, he welcomed the gathering and highlighted the objectives of the workshop.

The chief guests included Vittal A, joint secretary of the Karnataka State Lecturers' Association; Hariprakash, president of the Dakshina Kannada District Lecturers' Association; Attavar Nirendra, guest lecturer at J S Pre-University College, Bengaluru; and Shalini Mehendale, secretary of the Dakshina Kannada Commerce Lecturers' Association.

Around 150 Commerce lecturers from across the district participated in the workshop. Resource person Vrinda Konnar delivered a session on Goods and Services Tax (GST), while Surendra, a lecturer from Muniyal Pre-University College, spoke on Unit-Based Assessment.

During the programme, retired principals and Commerce lecturers Bharathi Bai and Kripakshi were felicitated in recognition of their service.

The programme was compered by lecturer Kavitha, and the vote of thanks was delivered by lecturer Sameeulla.
