Mumbai, Jul 24: The Kannada Journalists’ Association Maharashtra (KPSAM), in association with the Maharashtra unit of the Karnataka Union of Working Journalists (KUWJ), will organise Journalists’ Day-2026 on August 1 at 11 am at Lotus Auditorium, Solitaire Corporate Park, Andheri East, Mumbai.

The programme will be held under the presidentship of KPSAM president Dr G P Kusuma. The prestigious K T Venugopal KPSAM National Media Award-2026, presented annually by the organisation, will be conferred during the event.

Karnataka Union of Working Journalists (KUWJ) president Shivananda Tagaduru and other dignitaries will be present on the occasion and will present the award.

The eighth edition of the KPSAM National Media Award will be presented to senior Bengaluru-based journalist G N Mohan, recognising his significant contributions to the Kannada media sector.

The award, carrying a cash prize of Rs 25,000, a memento, citation, shawl and bouquet, will be presented in the presence of award committee chairperson Dr Sunitha M Shetty.

The announcement was made by KPSAM honorary general secretary Savitha Suresh Shetty and KUWJ Maharashtra unit president Dr Shiva Moodigere.

About G N Mohan

G N Mohan is one of the prominent personalities in Kannada journalism, with extensive experience across print, electronic and online media platforms.

A graduate in theatre from Bangalore University, Mohan secured first rank and two gold medals in his degree and later completed a postgraduate course in communication.

He began his journalism career as a reporter with Prajavani and later served as the head of the news division at ETV. He also worked as a senior editor at ETV News Channel and went on to serve as editor-in-chief of Samaya channel and Avadhi.

For his contributions to literature and theatre, Mohan has been honoured with the Karnataka Sahitya Akademi Sahityashree Award and the Karnataka Nataka Akademi Annual Award, among other recognitions.
