Karkala: Orientation programme conducted for first-year students of GFGC

Karkala, Jul 21: The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Manjunatha Pai Memorial Government First Grade College of Professional and Business Management, Karkala, successfully organised a two-day orientation programme for the newly admitted first-year students, providing them with a comprehensive introduction to academic life and campus facilities.

The orientation programme for BCom and BCom (Logistics) students was held on July 20 in the College Seminar Hall. The programme was inaugurated by Prof Shrivarma Ajri, former principal and CDC member of the college. Dr Suresh Rai K, principal, presided over the function, while distinguished alumnus Subrahmanya attended as the guest of honour. Vinay M S, IQAC coordinator, Dr Chandravathi, head of the Department of Commerce, and Jyothi L Janne, programme coordinator, were also present.

The orientation programme for BA, BBA, and BCA first-year students was organised on July 21 in the college seminar hall. The programme was presided over by Dr Suresh Rai K, principal. Guruprasad of Unnathi, Bengaluru, graced the occasion as the guest of honour. Vinay M S, IQAC coordinator, Jyothi L Janne, programme coordinator, and Dr Subrahmanya were present during the programme.

Addressing the students, the dignitaries emphasised the importance of higher education, discipline, punctuality, hard work, and personality development. They encouraged students to actively participate in academic, co-curricular, and extracurricular activities, skill development programmes, NSS, cultural events, and various student support initiatives to ensure holistic development.

The orientation sessions familiarised students with the college's vision and mission, academic discipline, examination system, library facilities, scholarships, mentoring system, career guidance, placement opportunities, and the wide range of academic, sports, and cultural opportunities available on the campus.

As part of the programme, several faculty members conducted informative sessions on different aspects of college life and student development. Narayana Nayak, retired teacher and scholarship expert, delivered a special session explaining various scholarship schemes available to students and guided them on the application process.

Faculty members of the college also served as resource persons, providing valuable insights into academics, student welfare services, institutional facilities, and career planning.
