Mangaluru, Jul 13: Carmel English Medium Higher Primary School (CBSE), Kotekar, organized an awareness programme on ‘Social Media and Its Effects’ on July 10 in the school auditorium. The programme commenced with a prayer song, invoking God’s blessings for the successful conduct of the event.

The chief guest and resource person, Dr Rakesh Kumar B, head of the department of MSc data science at AIMIT, St Aloysius College, Mangaluru was accorded a warm floral welcome. He was formally introduced to the gathering before the commencement of the session.

Addressing the students, Dr Rakesh Kumar B. delivered an insightful and engaging talk on the influence of Social Media in today’s world. He highlighted the role of social media in education and emphasized both its positive and negative effects on students’ lives. Through real-life examples and practical suggestions, he encouraged students to use digital platforms wisely and responsibly.

One of the key takeaways of the session was his golden formula: “Use social media… Don’t let social media use you!” The thought-provoking session created awareness among the students about maintaining a healthy balance between technology and everyday life.

The programme was graced by the presence of principal Sr Pramila AC, administrator Sr Julie Ann AC, and vice principal Sr Anitha AC. The session concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the resource person and all those who contributed to the success of the event.

The awareness programme proved to be highly informative and effective, inspiring students to become responsible digital citizens.
