Mandaviya to launch seven ESI healthcare projects worth Rs 668 crore across India

New Delhi, Jul 12: Union Labour and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya will inaugurate seven Employees' State Insurance (ESI) healthcare projects across the country on Tuesday, expanding medical infrastructure for nearly 53 lakh beneficiaries.

The projects, with a combined investment of around Rs 668 crore, will be inaugurated from the Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) Hospital in Sanathnagar, Telangana.

During the programme, the minister will inaugurate the newly constructed Outpatient Department (OPD) Block at the ESIC Hospital in Sanathnagar and virtually launch six other healthcare facilities located in Assam, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat and Rajasthan.

The projects include the upgraded 200-bed ESIC Hospital at Beltola (Assam), 100-bed ESIC Hospital at Sriperumbudur (Tamil Nadu), ESIS Hospital at Rajamahendravaram (Andhra Pradesh), ESI Dispensary and Branch Office at Surendranagar (Gujarat), ESI Dispensary and Branch Office at Udyog Nagar, Kota, and the ESI Dispensary at Bhawani Mandi (Rajasthan).

Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment Shobha Karandlaje will also be present at the inauguration ceremony.

The newly developed OPD Block at the ESIC Medical College and Hospital in Sanathnagar is expected to provide advanced outpatient healthcare services to over 12.3 lakh insured persons and beneficiaries across Hyderabad, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Sangareddy, Ranga Reddy and Mahabubnagar districts.

According to the Labour Ministry, the inauguration will further strengthen Telangana's ESI healthcare network, which has served insured workers in the region for several decades.

The upgraded Beltola ESIC Hospital will cater to insured workers across Assam and neighbouring northeastern states, benefiting around 3.42 lakh insured persons and nearly 13.27 lakh beneficiaries.

The 100-bed ESIC Hospital at Sriperumbudur, located in one of India's major manufacturing and electronics hubs, will offer facilities including outpatient services, emergency care, operation theatres, labour rooms, intensive care, inpatient services, diagnostic laboratories and pharmacy services. The hospital is expected to serve more than 5.5 lakh insured persons in Kanchipuram and Tiruvallur districts.

The ESIS Hospital at Rajamahendravaram will provide healthcare services to over 1.31 lakh insured persons and approximately 2.53 lakh beneficiaries.

In Gujarat, the new ESI Dispensary and Branch Office at Surendranagar will support around 35,000 beneficiaries, while the facility at Udyog Nagar in Kota will cater to workers and their families employed in the city's industrial areas.

The Bhawani Mandi dispensary in Rajasthan has been established to serve workers employed in the local industrial cluster. It is expected to provide healthcare services to around 27,715 insured workers, their 1.07 lakh dependents, and employees associated with nearly 800 establishments in the region.
